Maligayang pasko: a Filipino Christmas

A Christmas collection inspired by cultural aspects of the traditional Filipino Christmas.

Cultural significance:

Christmas is a huge part of Filipino culture and is a widely celebrated holiday due to Christianity being the largest religion practiced in the Philippines. Malls in the Philippines are already decorated for Christmas and playing Christmas songs by September; and so are the homes of every Filipino.

A “parol” is a Filipino ornamental lantern displayed during the Christmas season. Parols are traditionally constructed using bamboo and Japanese paper, and are illuminated with candles, oil lamps, or carbide lamps. It reminds the Filipino Christians of the star of Bethlehem that guided the Three Wise Men.
